If you're new to the Designer or want a quick intro to what it is and how to use it, this article is for you.

The Designer (aka the Studio or the Flow Builder) is our core product offering. It is a suite of tools for creating intelligently automated conversations. With the Designer, you can create Bots, add Flows and Steps to them and thus design your solution to accomplish your business goals. The Designer takes your customer communications to the next level while engaging the creative talent of your entire organization. This service makes the creation of custom interactive Bots quick and easy, without the need to write code.

Main components

The Designer manages 3 main components: Bots, Flows, and Steps. If in short, a Bot is a set of processes (Flows) that are built of commands (Steps) to handle your workflows: interact with a web visitor, send appointment reminders, answer or initiate phone calls, etc.

Key characteristics

  • Cross-functional: gives you a common framework where all team members can work together on a single solution. Designers can modify the UX, content managers can implement their changes to messaging, and developers can access and create their code within the platform.
  • Rapidly iterative: pushes changes to production as soon as they are ready, easily duplicates components in full or in part, and gives access to previous versions. Also, with the Designer's reporting capabilities, you can analyze the success of your solution and make adjustments in real time.
  • Flexible: helps you create solutions by using our prebuilt components or by adding your complex integrations while making use of the Designer as an orchestration layer for all the far-reaching areas of the solution.
  • Omnichannel: connects with any third-party services or data accessible via the API. Prebuilt integrations for many commonly used channels are already available, so you can create a complete solution without doing any custom work. We are always expanding our list of prebuilt integrations, but here are a few examples: Google Assistant, SMS, Viber, WhatsApp, Facebook, Slack, Alexa, HTTP, Phone/Voice, and many more.
